*Alquix Venvax
*Amberfuce was an amoral ghostwaif, a small frail creature with the ability to read, and empty, minds. Like many of his kind, he journeyed from the distant Nightwoods to Undertown in search of a better life. ''Unlike'' some of his kind, he was able to withstand the volume of thoughts and feelings the metroplis had to offer. After working for several sanctaphrax academics, the ambitious waif signed on with rising cloudwatcher Vox Verlix, who he saw had a brilliant mind. Amberfuce helped his new master him usurp the position of Most High Academe from Cowlquape Pentephraxis. In return, Amberfuce was made High Chancellor of Undertown and Sanctaphrax. In this role he acted as negotiator to arrange Vox's grand designs, such gaining the wood for the Tower of Night, brokering the deal with the Shyrkes and librarians for their help to construct the Great Mire Road, and arranging for General Tytugg to bring his goblin army to Undertown through his old contact Hemuel Spume, master of the Foundry Glade, so that Undertown could enslaved to work in the Sanctaphrax forest. Although he always took fees and taxes for his work, which nearly bankrupted the Undertowners until they were enslaved, he was eventually trapped with his master Verlix in the Palace of Statues, with no way of accessing his fortune stashed in the Foundry Glade. Among his jobs was the task of completely emptying the minds of Vox's slaves, making them complacent but completely indifferent. After Vox set off the dark maelstrom, Amberfuce managed to trick himself out of Vox's palace along with his nurse, Flambusia Flodfox, ultimately leading to Vox's demise as they stole his only means of escape. Amberfuce, deciding to travel to the Foundry Glade, hired the services of a treacherous quartermaster Quillet Plume and the crew of the Fogscythe, part of Deadbolt Vulpoon's Armada of the Dead, to escort him to the Glade. After thwarting an attempt by Plume to ditch Amberfuce and Flambusia, the ghostwaif sentenced the pirates to slave work in the foundries upon their arrival. Spume bought plans from Amberfuce, designed by Vox, for huge machines that would tear the Free Glades apart; so-called glade-eaters. He hoped that the plans would allow them to enslave the Freegladers, and make Spume and himself even richer through their alliance with the Goblin Nations. Amberfuce lived a life of total luxury in the Foundry Glade, cared for by a team of gabtrolls. His nurse, Flambusia, was made to work as a maid. After Hemuel departed for the Free Glades, where he died in the battle of New Undertown, the Foundry slaves escaped, leaving Amberfuce sitting, alone, in what should have been a warm tub of water, but was now neglected and cold. Flambusia, also forgotten, found Amberfuce and, resentful because of her treatment, boiled the helpless waif alive. Amberfuce appears in ''Vox (The Edge Chronicles)'' and ''Freeglader''.
